The Power of Storytelling

I’ve been a Disney fan for years and I knew that their ability to tell stories was effortless. I had never thought that my biggest challenge at Disney would be storytelling. The ability to tell a story in every deliverable was difficult, but once I got the hang of it, it was almost addicting. The best thing about this internship was that I was always given the tools to push my storytelling farther.

Site Messaging

Site messaging encompasses all assets that are on the shopDisney ecommerce site. These included modules on landing pages, product listing pages, navigation, etc. These assets were updated almost daily as new promotions and sales are constantly changing.

Email Messaging

Email messaging was another avenue of marketing that shopDisney utilizes. Emails are sent to customers daily so our team was responsible for designing and coding emails. Unlike site messaging, we had more creative freedom when it came to emails.

A Not So Happy Ending

…But A Magical Experience Nonetheless

This internship was my first real gig right after graduating college. It was a dream to be able to even interview with Disney, never did I think I’d actually become a Cast Member. I learned a lot about myself as a designer, my ability to tell a story, and my ability to navigate corporate life, and they’re all lessons that propelled me farther in my career. As I was celebrating my internship being extended for a full year, the COVID pandemic broke out. This introduced to the work from home lifestyle, which I didn’t mind at all; however I unfortunately found out that due to the pandemic all Disney internships were cut short. That sadly affected my extension and I was laid off in April. It definitely hurt to lose the literal dream job, but I’m thankful that I was even able to be an intern in the first place. I’m thankful for all the career changing experiences and only hope that one day I’d be able to return as a Cast Member.
